Farmland Dairies™ farmers have pledged in writing that they will provide raw milk to Farmland from cows that are not treated with rBST. rBST (recombinant Bovine Somatotropin) is a genetically engineered growth hormone. When administered to dairy cows, rBST artificially increases their milk production. This artificial stimulation at times could cause an inflammation and infection that could prompt the use of antibiotics. Farmland operates under the belief that milk and milk products should be as wholesome and pure as possible. Although the FDA has found no significant difference between milk derived from rBST treated cows and those not treated, many consumers have expressed concern about the possible long-term effects. We at Farmland take this concern very seriously and as such do not use milk that is treated with rBST.
